Nobody's Boss: Yeah, we will just have to mark no, no?
Nobody: no, yeah, we will have to mark no.
Nobody's Boss: Well played!

So kids, yes, it does pay off in the long run to listen to your English teacher about double negatives

Easy Goozle

This has to be easy.  With all the information given.

Two people John Farr and Justine Levy
in Feb 1884
in Scranton, PA
did something
the following day, in the local paper
the family of either John or Justine
mourned their child's death

What did John and Justine do?
And name the saloon they met at before they did it.

The Death Certificate of August A Busch Sr.

The below can be found at the Missouri State Archives in PDF form, along with any other Missouri death certificate from 1910 to X-51, where X = the current year. (Currently 1910-1956. We are assuming that they will continue to expand the collection each year.)

Not everyone you might expect to find there, has a death certificate. If someone died overseas, even if they were brought back to Missouri to be buried, they don't have a Missouri death certificate. For example, August A's father, Adolphus Busch, died while visiting his hometown of Germany in 1913.

Additionally .... The University of Missouri has several online St. Louis Social Registers from 1916-1925.

The above images and links reduces the difficult aspects of the below to a matter of reading, and following links.

Here's a new Goozle Challenge

When you least expect it....

The #85 was retired for the St. Louis Baseball Cardinals  over two decades ago.
1) What was the phone number of the guy for whom the number was retired, back when he was 17 years old?
2) What was the phone number of his father's mother 9 years later?
If you take the numerical portion of both numbers and add them together, what you will have will resemble a year.
In that year there was a change of power in a European country, and a rather famous prince took control.
3) What was his name?
4) What was the cause of death for the father of the 17 year old in #1?  Find as graphic a description as you can, and tell us where the 'cause' of death ended up.  (You don't have to type in the whole description, it is rather gruesome.)  The things you don't learn in high school about famous St. Louisans!

Hint for yesterday's goozle

Marvel's released the cover art for issue #4 today, so here's a sizable clue for those who still haven't responded to yesterday's challenge. We do have some correct answers. Tomorrow we'll announce them.

From out of the depths -- another Comic Goozle!

You don't need to know anything about the comics. You don't even need to know that these are issues #1-3 of a new Marvel comic. The cover artist wants you to subliminally (or not so subliminally perhaps) think of something else. What are those somethings? Once you have figured that out... Identify all the people on the covers. Remember, we said you don't need to know anything about the comics.  (email your answer to help at goozle dot org)

Note: We have received one correct answer so far.  We shall wait at least until tomorrow though before reveailing the solution.
