An extension of the previous question

Okay....now that the previous question was solved so quickly...

The summer was 1958, fictionally speaking.

A sixteen year old who shared a last name with a major US airport

was having a helluva time with a temporary widow.

This teen, whose first name is shared with a character from RHPS, was compared to a certain type of machine.

What type of machine was this exactly.

And in what strange location would you find a door?

sorry about my double post i hit submit twice and for some reason it actually let me do it before going on and therefore it's here twice

This one took me a little longer, until I found the key in the door on the floor, but please don't make me say the m-word; I'm far too shy for that.

just thought I would send this non-stumper puzzle for anyone who wants to try and solve it it goes like this.

All 4 were members of some sort of group, 2 are dead

    I. Someone was always faster then this first one, but this one was looking for something to prove.
II. This other person knew number one liked paper back books, but this person did have a tatoo so I guess that makes them even.
III. This other person had a tatoo like number two, but he hated this certain tatoo, and he was also born in misery.
IV. This last person knew alot about misery because he caught a beer bottle in his face, and he knew freedom's a feeling that few can understand.

    1. Name where I got these qoutes from
    2. Name every person in the group, and name which two died
    3. Name the group.
    4. Name the number you get when u take one of the answers from number one minus how many questions I asked.

Just got done watchign Ocean's Tweleve and Julia Roberts was great. She was playing the role she was born to play. She was playing Julia Roberts (sort-of). I'll explain to anybody who hasn't seen the movie yet. Julia Roberts character in the movie, Tess was part of the heiest and had to dress up like a celebrity. Well the the celebrity that Julia dressed up like was Julia Roberts. So Julia Roberts sort-of in a round-about-way played Julia ROberts. It was actually sort of funny/ confusing. Anyway just thought I would post this oh and has someone even looked at my non-stumper puzzle yet?

I've looked at it...from all kinds of angles and haven't been able to figure it out. Still working on it, though.

We have noticed that Christy prefers often to answer challenges cryptically so the author of the challenge knows she has reached the answer, but others still have a chance to play along in case she's wrong.
Submitted by ryan poole at 4/14/2005 11:50:19 PM
yep I belive she it completly right but I still have no idea what the heck TH stand for so hopefully she clears that up but even that I'm sure she got right. I just not sure what it stands for.

Answer is at the end of this post

What could I have possibly spelled wrong? I used acronyms.

Anyway, that was a lot of fun, Ryan.

    (The Highwaymen)

Ryan didn't say you mispelled anything. He said your not spelling it out (using acronyms) confused him briefly.
Submitted by Christy at 4/15/2005 10:41:30 AM
    Ahhhh...and I thought *I* was cryptic....
Submitted by ryan poole at 4/15/2005 12:56:04 PM
oh lol congrats I just wrote down Highwaymen and probally should've actually been smart enough to figure out t stood for the lol i feel totally stupid but congrats u got it completly right
Submitted by ryan poole at 4/18/2005 12:21:38 AM
FOr those cyrptically challenge the answer (which christy got right were)

    1. Last Stand in Open Country- Willie Nelson, If I can't find a clean shirt- Waylon Jenning, Thirteen- JOhnny Cash, and Kris Kristofferson- I've got a life of my own.

    2.Willie Nelson-Alive, Waylon Jennings-dead, Jonny Cash-dead, Kris Kristofferson-Alive

    3. (The) Highwaymen

    4. 9 (that being of coures thirteen minus 4).

I'll try harder next time. one of these day I'll stump you guys w/o using boooks
Submitted by Chrity at 4/18/2005 9:14:25 AM
That one came pretty damn close, Ryan...it was almost ungoogle-able.
Submitted by ryan poole at 4/18/2005 1:46:52 PM
oh how so christy, and how did u fianlly find it? that's good that I cam close I'll definetly try really hard next time.
Submitted by Christy at 4/19/2005 10:30:56 AM
I recognized one of the "quotes" in the clue as a lyric, but googling it outright yielded far too many results that didn't apply. The same for the others. Once I remembered it was a KK song, the rest fell into place.
Submitted by ryan poole at 4/19/2005 12:37:07 PM
Yea I knew with those qoutes it will turn out alot, so next time I'll try harder to totally confuse you.
Submitted by nobody at 4/25/2005 9:54:52 AM
The answer to the puzzle at the top...by the way, follows (in white font) Masturbating Machine...and the Door in the Floor. The 16 year old's name was Eddie OHare. All references to John Irving's novel A Widow for A Year.
Submitted by ryan poole at 4/27/2005 2:51:26 PM
I have e-mailed new non-stumper puzzle to nobody so they can put it in a box. hopefully this will get you
Submitted by Christy at 4/27/2005 8:11:17 PM
Oh hell. I'm like this close to nobody's puzzle and now I have this??

nobody needs to tell me if i need to resort to french in order to solve his. otherwise i'm giving. i have all the parts but the answer and the french angle, which is like my last one without calling the library is hard. so if that isn't going to do it for me, i'm stopping and want the answer.
Submitted by nobody at 4/28/2005 8:36:31 AM
No knowledge of the French language should be necessary in solving the puzzle concerning Conrad, Bill, Bob and the Bishop.

If you have everything except the final resting grounds of the Bishop's brain, we will tell you that the information is definitely online. Go ahead and email us with what you have, and we'll decide whether we will give you the answer, provide more clues, or make you work harder.
