Solve

Solve what no man has solved before...(because we just created it)

DITLOID + B in a W = F the W is H and IHT the S.

B in a W = WYSLMWYSNM.

F the W is H and IHT the S = SOL - H of the A - BY of ST (of T and H).

Hint: No sport is involved

We have added two equations which may help, or confuse matters.   All three are one.  That is, once you figure out the number that corresponds with a group of letters and words, that same number fits in the other two equations where you would expect it to.

If you have absolutely no idea what is going on above, put the first word into a search engine.  (The rest is difficult enough)

I'm having trouble with this, not least because I keep reading it as a rap lyric.

If you're completely lost, Google should be of help.

But the geek factor on this equation is rather high.

My geek factor is rather low. But, I'm the Q of G, so I'll try that.

Heh. I have that book! Not that it matters...except I know how many of THAT.

What I did learn is that these types of puzzles have a name.

    914 A of B. where S is Y.B.

Nobody currently feels like a genius since this apparently has stumped several librarians...

But we think we've solved it. When it is recorded who solved this, make sure you tell everyone that nobody solved it.

914 = the Act of Bill where Subject is Your Brain

    Senate Bill 914

(at least it's a better answer than 'amount of baldness where someone is Yul Brynner')

We do have to admit that we regret not posting the answer to our original puzzle above as we have forgotten the answer.

We know B in a W and WYSLMWYSNM. The former is a geeky computer reference, and the latter is a reference to some song lyrics. OF course we know DITLOID. But what the rest referred to we have no recollection.

914 = the Assignment of Bill where Subject is Your Brain

    (this works better grammatically.)

I'm a librarian working on finding an answer to this riddle. And the woman who called with the question said that the riddle she has is from 1995 -- way before the bill was passed (2004 I believe). So does 914 mean something else?

I suspect "B in a W" is "bits in a word". If true, the answer is either 16, 32, or 64 depending on the platform.

Nobody is less geeky than some, it appears. It was 64 on the platform we learned on, so many years ago.
