Latest Greatest Conspiracy Theory
The most recent conspiracy theory that has caught my attention is the idea that Osama Bin Laden has already been captured. He is being kept prisoner somewhere. And he will "officially" be captured next October.
Of course...this ridiculous. Bush might be illiterate, but he isn't stupid. He will bend, mutilate, and stretch...but he isn't going to do anything that would be immediate grounds for impeachment if caught.
But it's still a fun conspiracy theory. And it is based on an actual truth that is extremely hard to refute. Today's politics is based completely on media manipulation. We elect the individual best able to manipulate the press.

at 12/31/2003 9:04:50 AM- right...that's why the conspiracy theorists think he's already been caught. So Bush can deliever the game-winning grand slam in the actual bottom of the 9th with 2 outs...at the end of October, right before the election. Delivering it now, with the perceived short attention spans of the American electorate, wouldn't benefit him as much in the election.

at 1/22/2004 1:53:54 PM- Bush could get around the impeachment by announcing in October than OBL was caught whenever he was caught. The short-attentioned spanned American public for whom such a stunt would be directed also wouldn't care.
These are the same people giving Bush his high approval rating; these are the same people who believe (just because Bush juxtaposed 9/11 with Iraq) that Saddam Hussein was directly responsible for the 9/11 attacks.
I wouldn't put it past him.

Notice how Biun Laden is in news now a little more every week. Americans are so dumb if this is true Americans would forget how he sucks major monkey balls
Dubya also wouldn't keep it secret simply because the capture of Bin Laden by US forces would make him look a lot better in the US.
He got lucky with Hussein, that was a home run for him. Getting Bin Laden as well would be an out of the park, game winning grand slam in the seventh game of the world series, bottom of the 9th, 2 outs, 0-2 count.
I'd probably be more than a little skeptical if they were both caught so close together, or at all for that matter. Knowing how many places Bin Laden can hide, and the supporters he has in remote areas, it will be a major miracle to ever find him.
